Dear Friends:

We are in the midst of a truly unprecedented situation and I want to express my sincerest gratitude to all of you who have gone above and beyond to keep our communities safe, healthy, and informed. We are all in this together.

California’s response to the spread of the novel coronavirus/COVID-19 is evolving daily. Scroll down for important information that may be helpful to you and your family as we navigate this situation together.

My office and I remain dedicated to aiding our local, state, and federal leaders in providing support throughout this situation. I will continue to share the latest updates as I get them to keep you as informed as possible.

It is important that we heed all guidance from public health officials regarding hygiene and exposure. Our actions and decisions during this difficult period are what will define this moment and its impacts for years to come. I am confident that all Californians and Americans will weather this storm with resilience, patience, unity, and courage.

Thank you all for doing your part. I look forward to the day we can meet again in the community.

With sincere gratitude,

RICHARD D. ROTH

Senator, 31st District

PLEASE NOTE: These resources will be updated and expanded as the situation evolves.

The Governor’s Guidance on Staying Home

The California State Public Health Officer and Director of the California Department of Public Health is ordering all individuals living in the State of California to stay home or at their place of residence, except as needed to maintain continuity of operation of the federal critical infrastructure sectors, critical government services, schools, childcare, and construction, including housing construction.

Together, we can flatten the curve

There is currently no vaccine to prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). However, as per CDC guidelines, here are the best ways to prevent the spread of COVID-19:  En Español

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow.
  • Clean AND disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks.
